Bond Street’s Summer Entertainment
23rd August 2017
SENT IN BY A LOCAL RESIDENT:
Ealing Council’s latest ‘Summer Entertainment’ launched in Bond Street on Sunday August 20 but, based on the amount of people present at noon, it appeared a damp squib (even though the sun was out). There was live music and a handful of stalls but no party atmosphere. The restaurants on the east side of Bond Street had obviously taken the opportunity to put their tables and chairs on the pavement to entice the public to eat at their establishment. There was sand on the green west of Bond Street (never mind there is already blue sand in the Shopping Centre). There was a mini cycling track on the grass opposite.
LBE is not lacking in events in the Summer – Greenford and Acton Carnivals, Beer, Comedy, Blues, Jazz, Polish Festivals, Hindu Chariot Festival, the London Mela and the Half Marathon. It seems totally over the top to close Bond Street causing major disruption to the 65 bus route and other road users for this rather underwhelming venture.
