Residents may remember that Cllr Dabrowska alerted users of Lionel Road South (the road on the other side of the A4) that it will be closed for the majority of 2018 when it would reopen in the new year.
Today, Cllr Dabrowska found out that the new Brentford FC stadium has asked for a further extension meaning that Lionel Road South will be closed for the whole of 2019.
Sally Stephens, project manager for the new stadium, states:
London Borough of Hounslow has now issued a new permit for closure of Lionel Road South through to the end of 2019.
The works that have been undertaken to date have proven more technically challenging than anticipated and will require additional time to complete properly. That combined with the fact that an additional closure of the road was always planned for later in 2019 meant that it made sense to keep the road closed throughout 2019.
This decision was taken by LBH with the involvement of other relevant parties and following a review of traffic flow data.
Pedestrians and cyclists will continue to be able to use the road (although cyclists will have to dismount for safety reasons).
