Q&A – monies spent by Ealing Council on advertising

Cllr Joanna Dabrowska asked:

  1. How much has LBE spent on advertising in Ealing Gazette, per year, in the last five years? Please split this amount by directorate.
  2. How much has LBE spent on advertising in other publications, per year, in the last five years? Please list these publications.

Ealing Council’s response:

  1. Given the profile of the above departmental spend, it can be anticipated that the majority of cost has been incurred on statutory public notices which the council is obliged to publish.

  2. As budget for these activities is not held centrally it is not possible to provide accurate data on spend by publication without incurring significant officer time and resources to identify these and their trading names. In the main, the council uses its own communications channels to publicise activities to residents. Please note that the highest proportion of the council’s advertising costs are expected to be incurred on statutory public notices (most of which will be placed in the Ealing Gazette). The council will also incur expenditure on recruitment advertising as and when required.
