There will be a planned closure on the Tube network this weekend, 15 and 16 June, that may affect residents in Ealing. The closure is part of our ongoing Four Lines Modernisation Programme, and will help to facilitate the huge overhaul of the signalling system on the Circle, Hammersmith & City, District and Metropolitan lines. Once completed, the new signalling system will transform the oldest parts of the Tube network into one of the most modern railways in the world, providing better customer information and making journeys quicker, more reliable and more comfortable.
The closure is as follows:
- CIRCLE LINE:
No service between Aldgate and Edgware Road via Victoria
- DISTRICT LINE:
No service between Aldgate East / Edgware Road and Ealing Broadway / Kensington (Olympia) / Richmond / Wimbledon.
There will also be no service between Edgware Road and Kensington (Olympia)
We have rolled out a thorough communication plan to inform our customers of this essential closure, and help them plan and manage their journeys. This includes station posters and announcements, travel advice on our website and social media notifications, customer emails and information in the Metro. Replacement buses will also operate.
Once completed, the new, modern signalling will allow trains to run closer together with up to 32 trains per hour in the central London section. This will lead to a capacity increase of a third on the four lines, equivalent to the space for an extra 36,500 customers during peak times.
