Some of you may have noticed a couple of mirrors attached to traffic lights at the junction of the North Circular Road/Gunnersbury Avenue (A406) and Popes Lane (B4491)/Gunnersbury Lane (A4000).
An eagle-eyed resident in neighbouring Turnham Green ward (Hounslow) contacted local ward councillor Cllr Joanna Biddolph who in turn contacted Cllr Joanna Dabrowska.
Following some enquiries, it turns out that the mirrors are “trixi mirrors” designed to help drivers, particularly of large vehicles, see cyclists on their nearside. There are two at this junction in locations where vehicles may be turning left across cyclists or where it narrows.
These appear to be installed by Transport for London (TfL) as they are affixed to the A406 traffic lights.
