Cllr Joanna Dabrowska has become aware of the traffic arrangements happening on The Mall from today, Saturday, 20th July til 12th August 2019 as a result of electric cabling works.
The maps should be self-explanatory, however, Cllr Dabrowska has raised the issue of the traffic plans as it seems that no lane will be open for traffic, which is not consistent with its intention or indeed, the traffic order.
As the highways officer sent the information minutes before the council offices closed on Friday afternoon (yesterday), with hardly much notice, Cllr Dabrowska expects a response on Monday, whether the arrangements are in line with the traffic order.
Regardless of the response, please be aware that with 3-way traffic signals, Ealing Broadway will be slower than usual albeit it summer holidays and having a knock on effect in the area including potential bus delays.
UPDATE 22/07: Response from highways officer:
“The works (trenching across the road to install the new cable) will be carried out in separate phases depending on the section of the carriageway, one with lane closures on lane 1 and lane 2 (outside Halfords), including three-way temporary traffic lights with pedestrian phased lights and other; lane closure with contraflow on lane 3 (outside Natwest Bank).”
Yet technically, the traffic order could still allow a full width road closure if the contractors wished to do so.
