Redundant traffic counter cables

Residents may have noticed from time to time that various cables are laid across roads. The strip cables across the public highway are automatic traffic counters (ATCs). They are useful in determining traffic volumes, speeds as well as type of vehicles using that particular route.

Cllr Joanna Dabrowska asked the council to carry out various traffic counts at specific locations. However, some counting units have been left behind.

Cllr Dabrowska has contacted the provider and reported the cable by 29 Tring Avenue and it will be collected today. This unit was used to capture data from around February time and was never collected. Other units have been spotted around the ward including one on Popes Lane.

If residents can see a traffic counter in the ward, it is more than likely that it has been forgotten as no surveys are being currently undertaken. If you do see one, please email joanna.dabrowska@ealing.gov.uk to get it removed. New locations will be added here.
